Hello, Thanks for Stopping by
I'm Fai - a dedicated therapist with a passion for helping individuals explore life challenges and support them in their self-growth. Feel free to read on to find out more about me, my background and my experience.
I know it feels tough right now, but you've taken such a brave step to want to get help. We can work together to try to make life feel easier.
My Training and Qualifications
Having initially completed a Masters in Pharmacy, I spent the first 15+ years of my professional life working as a community based pharmacist largely based in a lovely village in Ayrshire. The best part of my work were the connections that were cultivated with the team and community around me.
Thoughts about changing career were a few years in the making and stemmed from a number of factors. Firstly, starting to feel disillusioned in healthcare that medication was often provided as the first and only avenue to work through mental health challenges. Secondly, a life change prompting my own journey to seek out therapy but unable to find a therapist who could relate to my background. Through this experience, I recognised how powerful it could be for people to work with a counsellor who simply got the cultural nuances which informed their lives and my own journey to train as a counsellor began.
I completed my post-graduate qualifications with Aberdeen University in Counselling and Psychotherapy and have been working with clients for the last five years.

My Approach to Therapy
I trained as a person-centred therapist however having evolved my practice, working in a more holistic and integrative way. Let’s break down some of this jargon though so I can explain what I really mean! I provide you with a safe space to bring whatever difficulties you would like to without fear of judgement. I view this time and space as yours so work collaboratively with you during our session; for example, if I notice a shift in your body language or a tentative circling of a topic you’re trying to bring, I’ll gently enquire and explore that with you. There’s no one size fits all to therapy and through the relationship we build, I actively encourage you to have open conversations with me over the work we’re doing and what is (and isn’t) working well for you. There’s absolutely no emphasis on doing ‘homework’ post-session; I may provide suggestions or thoughts at the end however there is no pressure to do anything between sessions except simply be.
I am passionate about ensuring I am providing culturally sensitive therapy. I’m conscious that most therapeutic approaches were designed from a western perspective and as a result can exclude cultural and faith intricacies which you may bring. I’m committed to truly understanding who you are.
